I am an Associate Professor and the Coordinator of the Post-Masters UNDNP Program at the Orvis School of Nursing at the University of Nevada, Reno. I completed my PhD degree in Social Psychology in 2008 at the University of Nevada Reno. I have served as teaching faculty at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Previous to my position as Coordinator of the UNDNP Program at OSN, I served as Co-coordinator of the Family Nurse Practitioner Program. As part of the University Studies Abroad Consortium (USAC), I have twice been a Visiting Professor at the Universidad de Costa Rica—Sede de Occidente in San Ramón, Costa Rica. My research involves health disparities and the underserved and marginalized populations, including the transgender and obese populations. I am a Family Nurse Practitioner and my nursing career includes practice in adult ICU, school nursing, home health, family practice, internal medicine, and pulmonary health. In my down time, I write fiction, play with my grandson, and teach the Basque language.
